SD series is meant for heavy-duty applications with bearing series 231 onwards, having shaft diameters of 150 mm and more. SD housings are recommended for industries having heavy duty with temperature and continuous service like Cement, Steel, Conveyors and material handling, Mining, Rolling Mills, paper industries, etc.
SD Series Housings are horizontally split type that helps easy assembly and maintenance for heavy-duty bearing installations. It has a hollow base construction, which allows heavy loads coming from multiple directions & remains stable in higher vibration & higher temperature conditions.
From a foundry point of view, its construction is so simple and streamlined that one can aim to produce zero-defect castings. The hollow bottom base is strengthened with a rib in the middle, which allows Increased load-carrying capacity.
Inside SD Housing a sump is made to allow smooth flow of grease or oil during operation. For better lubrication results, inside the housing, a pocket cavity is provided at lock nut side which allows the collection of used grease or oil during operation. Exactly on the outside face of the base, two pads are provided, where holes can be put for drain and/or oil level indicator suitably.
